The New England Cultural Database (NECD):
	•	Is an online data warehouse containing financial, demographic, geographic, and other related information about businesses, cultural organizations and individual artists in New England
	•	Provides the New England state arts agencies, researchers, cultural organizations, funders, artists, policy makers, and general public with a wealth of research information to support analysis, advocacy, and policy development
Overview
NEFA has been a significant cultural force since 1975, when it was created as one of six regional arts agencies nationwide, funded primarily through the National Endowment for the Arts and New England state arts agencies. Today's NEFA has evolved considerably from the original regional model, and now operates with an annual budget of $5 million to develop and manage arts initiatives on local, regional, national and international levels. http://www.usregionalarts.org/http://www.nea.gov/shapeimage_7_link_0shapeimage_7_link_1

ASSETS FOR ARTISTS
New Pilot Initiative Will Provide Assistance for Berkshire County Artists

MASS MoCA www.massmoca.org, MCLA’s Berkshire Cultural Resource Center http://bcrc.mcla.edu, and Pittsfield’s Office of Cultural Development http://www.culturalpittsfield.com are working together under the umbrella of Berkshire Creative to launch a pilot initiative, Assets for Artists, aimed at helping artists throughout the county who wish to become home owners and/or receive small business training and assistance. Training sessions (custom-designed for artists) will be offered on both home ownership and business management, and a limited amount of financial assistance will be available for nine low- to moderate-income artists through “individual development accounts” http://www.massassets.org/message.html
