Bring your field trip to The Mount and experience The Gilded Age world of Pulitzer Prize-winning author Edith Wharton.
Edith Wharton wrote some of her most popular and acclaimed literary works (The House of Mirth and Ethan Frome) during her prolific decade of residence at The Mount (1902-1911). Our field trip programs emphasize the historic, cultural and personal events that shaped the author’s life and the significant ways in which they influenced her timeless literary works.
The Mount’s field trip programs meet some or all of Sate Curriculum Standards for English Language Arts and Social Studies as set by Massachusetts, New York and Connecticut. Typical field trip tours run for 60 minutes and can be catered to fit the needs of students in grades 6-12.
